Psychology & Dommes

I have noticed a proliferation of Dommes mentioning psychological techniques along with people on phone session lines offering sex “therapy” of different kinds.

#1 If she doesn’t have AT LEAST a master’s degree and a license in psychology, psychiatry, or mental health counseling, she absolutely cannot provide therapy. That is a protected term, like calling oneself a lawyer. That means, any person calling themselves a sex therapist without proper education and licensing are committing a serious crime in the US and many other countries. Do not trust ANYONE offering therapy unless you can confirm they are licensed to practice. This means they will be giving you their real name, their professional associations, and what state they are licensed in so you can check. REAL therapists will share this information with you if they are to provide you with actual therapy or counseling.

#2 Don’t trust anyone who talks about doing hypnosis or hypnotherapy unless you can validate their legitimate training. Most Dommes are NOT trained to perform real hypnosis.

#3 A lot of Dommes talk about using psychology in their sessions. Keywords may include triggers, cues, and conditioning. Very few Dommes actually know how to do this correctly and doing it wrong can have consequences. Be wary of anyone talking about psychology without having any education in that realm.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and I am currently in school earning my Master’s degree in mental health counseling. I am an award-winning published researcher, and I have done years of scientific research in areas including BDSM, impulsivity, and choice making (among others). These are only a few of my many accomplishments. Thus, I have the authority to warn you about these people. If you truly need therapy and don’t know where to look, do contact me for some resources.
